President Aquino was invited to attend the 25th Anniversary of ABS-CBN's TV Patrol, a popular news program in the Philippines. His speech in an audience of media news practitioners, news correspondents, and the station's news anchors said "If you are aware that you are an opinion maker, you should also know your responsibility."
Ayon kay Aquino, ang pag-rereport ng "bad news" sa telebisyon at radio ang dahilan kung bakit nadidiscourage ang mga turista na pumunta sa ating bansa. "How many tourist every month cancel their vacations here because of negative news everyday? How many Filipinos lose their chance to a possible source of income because of this bad news?" sabi ni Aquino.
Totoo naman ang sinabi ni Presidente Aquino, tayong mga Pilipino rin naman ang sumisira sa ating bayan. Siguro sobra na nga ang ating pagiging negatibo at nasobrahan na rin tayo sa pag-kain ng talangka kaya't normal na sa atin ang "crab mentality".
Malaki ang responsibilidad ng mga media practitioners sa buhay ng mga ordinaryong Pilipino. They can influence Filipinos on how they view themselves, their government officials, and their country. Kaya may punto rin naman si PNoy.
We should not criticize just to find faults, instead, criticize because we want to correct their faults.
Pero eto naman po ang dapat tandaan ng ating mga opisyal sa gobyerno:
...Dugo't pawis po ang aming binubuhos araw-araw para kami ay kumita ng pera at para magkaroon ng sapat na sweldo. A huge percent of our income ay napupunta sa buwis na ginagamit pang-pasweldo sa mga pwet ninyo. Kung ayaw ninyong makarinig ng 'bad news" sa amin, eh galingan ninyo ang mga trabaho ninyo!...
