Kissing couple drowns as big wave hits them

MANILA, Philippines — What was supposed to be a romantic setting for a couple out on a date ended in tragedy when both drowned at the Manila Bay after they were swept out to sea by a big wave on Sunday.

Their bodies were fished out of Manila Bay more than several hours later. At press time, the couple has yet to be identified by the police.

A witness, 20-year-old Joey Enepreo, told the police that he and his girlfriend were walking on the breakwater when he saw the couple kissing while standing on a big rock.

To his surprise, Enepreo saw a big wave hit the couple, causing both to fall into the water.
He added that he tried to save them by diving into the water but he was forced to turn back because of the strong current. Enepreo said he immediately sought the help of the Philippine Coast Guard in rescuing the couple.

Frogmen were able to retrieve the body of the man after several minutes but they could not find his companion.

At around 6 a.m. Monday, a housewife, Lizalyn Tarroyo, spotted a woman’s body floating near Block 2 Old Site, Baseco Compound in Port Area. She immediately called the police.

Okay?
