The First Lady Chief Justice in the Philippines

Congratulations to the new Chief Justice of the Philippines - Honorable Maria Lourdes Aranal Sereno.

We will miss you CJ Corona! Hayaan mo, marami ka naman palang naipon na peso at dollar account, think of this event as your early retirement.

2008 BAR Passers

Last April 3, 2009, the results of the 2008 BAR exam was finally released. Based on the official tally, The Philippines now has more than 40,000 lawyers. But I'm not sure if that statistics still tell us that we have an oversupply or deficiency of layers in the country. I'm not sure either if our new blood of lawyers are enough to influence change in our anemic and polluted judicial system. I hope these new lawyers will not get rotten by our system.

Many Pinoys feel that our judicial system is "bulok". Complaints about the courts are common among Filipinos. Not only it is thorny to find a passionate protector of the system among the legal intellectuals in this country but Pinoys going to the courts in search of reprieve often find their sufferings to multiply. But to where else should they turn to gain console and resolve their problems?

Here are the lists of those who passed the 2008 Bar Exam... our new lawyers. Wish them well and we hope they will bring new hope to our ailing justice system.
